If you are a real Baja lover, and you know Los Cabos well, you can imagine why we are so excited by the Todos Santos Music Festival 2016 (January 14-16 and January 20-23). The magical town of Todos Santos, located a few minutes from Cabo San Lucas, is considered a refuge for artists and painters and home of the legendary Hotel California, this charming town is ready to welcome us next week!
Starting in 2012, the Todos Santos Music Festival, created by Peter Buck, lead guitarist of R.E.M., everything began with Peter inviting some friends to play, choosing this place for the intimacy, the charm, and the historical background. Along with the Hotel California, they have added music to the list of cultural events in town, bringing musicians together to help make a difference in the community of Todos Santos and supporting local charities, like The Palapa Society A.C.
“The Todos Santos Music Festival has grown from a few friends playing for a few people into an incredible event featuring well-known bands and bigger crowds, without losing the intimacy or impromptu spirit,” says Peter Buck.
Hotel California and Vaso Loco, LLC, a company founded by Peter Buck have announced that the 5th Edition of the Todos Santos Music Festival will take place over the course of next two weekends January 14-16 and January 20-23, at the Hotel California and the central plaza.
Year by year the festival gets better and better, adding more days, more bands and more fun! On its 5th Annual Edition, Peter Buck and the Todos Santos Music Festival have some surprises for us. An incredible line-up starting with the grand announcement of the alternative band Death Cab for Cutie, first time playing in Mexico. Then we’ll see singer and songwriter Jeff Tweedy; and returning last year’s incredible performances by the alternative country band Old 97’s, Drive-By Truckers, The Jayhawks, The Autumn Defense. Grammy Award-winning La Santa Cecilia will be there as well, as well as the Mexican alternative band Torreblanca and the first time festival artists Tigria. Besides all the mentioned artists, we will also be enjoying performances by local musicians.
“The opportunity to bring artists together to support The Palapa Society’s educational mission, along with other worthy local charities, is extremely gratifying for all of us, I’m looking forward to the festival’s 5th installment,” said Peter Buck.
The Palapa Society of Todos Santos, A.C. is a non-profit association with a mission to provide scholarship, educational, medical and environmental programs for the benefit of local children and their families. Last year’s festival raised more than $60,000, distributed on some organizations in town, including The Palapa Society; and over the first four years, the festival has raised over $200,000 to support local charities.
