Hurricane Odile struck Los Cabos and Baja in September, but the towns are recovering by the hour. People are united and working hard to rebuild an even more beautiful Los Cabos. I am sure you will be pleasantly surprised when you visit us next time.
We are also very excited for the upcomig fishing season and our traditional tournaments. Bisbee’s tournaments are happening as scheduled. Los Cabos Offshore will be happening from October 17 – 19, and Bisbee’s Black and Blue Marlin Tournament will be happening from October 21 – 25. You can register online here: www.bisbees.com
Bisbee’s Black & Blue Tournaments have been taking place in the Los Cabos region of the Baja Peninsula in Mexico for over 30 years. Started in 1981 by Bob Bisbee, the Black & Blue Marlin Tournament has grown from six teams with a purse of $10,000 to more than 150 teams with millions of dollars on the line. In 2006 the Black & Blue had its biggest overall cash payout of $4,165,960. This was, and remains, the largest payout in sportfishing history. Throughout the years, Bisbee’s Black & Blue Tournaments have awarded over $60 million in prize money as the World’s Richest Fishing Event.
Historically Bisbee’s tournaments have always made sure to give back to the community. After the hurricane the Bisbee’s Team has immediately gone into action to help support the victims and implemented a Los Cabos Hurricane Relief Fund. The Bisbee family has made an initial donation of $250,000.00. All funds collected through the relief fund will help support the residents and businesses of Los Cabos by providing emergency housing and emergency funds for charter boats. Families with limited resources will receive help rebuilding their existing homes and will be provided temporary shelter and transportation. Local charter boat owners will receive funds through gifts or loans to make the necessary repairs to their charter fleet. We hope to see you in Cabo soon; be it for fishing, fun, or for a relaxing getaway. Now, more than ever, Los Cabos and Baja need you, so we can get on our feet faster and stronger.
