Los Cabos, our stunning world-wide resort destination located at the tip of the Baja Peninsula in Baja California, Mexico, will host the 2014 edition of the Ironman Los Cabos on March 30, 2014. At the Ironman Los Cabos, a though test for both body and mind, athletes will enjoy a challenge of 2.4-mile swim in azure blue and turquoise waters of the Sea of Cortes, followed by a 112-mile bike course and a 26.2-mile run course that travels along a 20-mile corridor between Cabo San Lucas and San Jose del Cabo, all of this while offering views of rugged cliffs, desert vistas and mountains that are bound together by a wash of colors that are unmistakably Cabo’s.
The morning of the event, a gorgeous sunrise will amaze all the excited athletes in their wetsuits, swim cap and goggles. At the sound of the start signal athletes will immerse in the waters of San Jose del Cabo to stroke during the 2.4 miles. Inside the bay, the swim cove will be a perfect setting for the rectangular shaped one lap course. There will be only one mass start for all the age group athletes.
After completing the swim course athletes will change their wetsuits for their bicycles. They should also apply more sun block lotion before getting on their bikes and enjoy the 112 mile circuit that goes along the scenic boulevard, a fun and perfectly paved highway will offer a spectacularly beautiful terrain that contrast the clear water of the Sea of Cortes on one side, and the desert mountains on the other. The ocean sparkling and the stunning view of El Arco of Cabo San Lucas as they reach Cabo should be motivational enough to turn and ride back to San Jose del Cabo with more beautiful scenic ocean view and tropical flowers, which also will be replaced by giant peaks covered in jagged edges of red rocks and cacti that can make even the highest spirited athlete, minuscule and weak. Without a doubt a great challenge mentally and physically.
3 laps would have to be completed along the Transpeninsular Highway, at the third lap, athletes would be directed towards T2 next to the firefighters station where they will leave their bikes and put on their running shoes for the last part of the challenge.
The run will go along the hotel zone, Puerto Los Cabos and Centenario Ave. It will be an out and back course of 3 laps. The run finishes at the City Hall plaza in downtown San Jose del Cabo.
