I can’t believe it’s already February!  If you are coming to visit us this month, here are some of the February events in Cabo San Lucas and Baja you might not want to miss:

Feb 2: Candlemas day or Día de la Candelaria. This year, February 2nd is also a day of Super Bowl, which will be played at almost any bar or restaurant in Los Cabos. Don’t forget to reserve your table.

Feb 5: Constitution day
The Constitution of Mexico, formally the Political Constitution of the United Mexican States (Constitución Política de los Estados Unidos Mexicanos) is the current constitution of Mexico. It was drafted in Santiago de Querétaro, in the State of Querétaro, by a constitutional convention, during the Mexican Revolution. It was approved by the Constitutional Congress on February 5, 1917. It is the successor to the Constitution of 1857, and earlier Mexican constitutions.

Feb 14: Valentine’s day
While traditionally we did not celebrate Valentines day in Mexico, it perfectly fits the loving and festive nature that defines Mexicans, and nowadays we use this sweet excuse to pamper our loved ones, friends and family. Restaurants will probably be full, so don’t forget to make your reservation early.

– Feb 20-28: Todos Santos Film Festival
11th Annual Todos Santos Film Festival this year is happening between 20 and 28 of February. See the entire program and more information on their website www.todossantoscine.org.

– Feb 22: Casino Night
A traditional charity event located at Villa Bellisima in Pedregal de Cabo San Lucas. 7 – 11 pm. Great food, wine, music & entertainment. Personal donation: 100 USD or 1,250 MXN pesos. The proceeds will benefit the Scholarship Program of Building Baja’s Future.

Feb 24: Mexican Flag day
Día de la Bandera (“Flag Day”) is a national holiday in Mexico. Flag Day is celebrated every year on February 24 since its implementation in 1937. It was established by the President of Mexico, General Lázaro Cárdenas, before the monument to General Vicente Guerrero, first to pledge allegiance to the Mexican flag on March 12, 1821.

Feb 27 – Mar 4: Traditional La Paz Carnival
Carnival in La Paz is one of the best in all of México.  This event is one giant party with fireworks, colorful parades, street dancing, carnival rides, entertainment, games and a great family atmosphere.  If you plan on attending Carnival make your reservations early, as the area hotels  usually fill rapidly during Carnival. The waterfront location provides a dramatic backdrop for all of the hoopla.

Feb – Mar: Whale watching
Whale watching in Cabo San Lucas is a truly unforgettable experience, and just couple of minutes from the shore.  Until the end of March you can see Humpback and Gray whale, but it is not rare to see Blue whales, Sperm Whales and even Orcas.
