I was born in mainland Mazatlan in 1981 and a few months after my family moved to Cabo San Lucas, starting a new a life. My family has been working in the hotel industry since I was a child. My mom worked at El Presidente Hotel for several years, she taught my brothers and me the values of life and enabled us a good education. I followed my mother’s lead and have worked in hotel industry since the very beginning. I worked at Westin Regina, Sheraton, Melia Los Cabos, and Esperanza Resort where I worked for the last 9 years. The time I was at Esperanza is very special to me, because it’s where I meet my wife. We have two great boys together, Ivan Alejandro, now 6 years old and Adrian Nicholas who is 3, and I am very proud of them.
The transition to work with Luxury Villa Collections was very natural to me, as I continue to work in the community I really like and know best: Punta Ballena and Auberge Private Residences at Esperanza. Working with Luxury Villa Collections enables me to be even more involved with our guests in creating more memorable vacations and by making their stay relaxed and unforgettable.
My favorite leisure activity is surfing, I grew up surfing together with my brother Alejandro, who now owns a Costa Azul surf store in San Jose del Cabo, located at Plaza Costa Azul. My brother and our nephew Rogelio work together in the store and provide surfing lessons with a team of certified instructors. This is their passion and they promise you will be surfing the same day.
After work you can find me at Acapulquito beach in San Jose del Cabo. The playa in front of Cabo Surf Hotel (below the lookout point (El Mirador) also known as the rock surf spot), has perfect waves for beginners. Be aware there are rocks on the bottom so I suggest always wearing the proper equipment. The waves here break in summer from middle of March to September.
My personal suggestion for anyone interested in a great day of surfing is to go to 45 minutes up north from Cabo San Lucas and try Los Cerritos beach at the KM. 65. Los Cerritos is a fantastic surfing spot on the Pacific Side of the peninsula with a sandy bottom. The waves here break in winter time from October to March.
For more information on organizing your best Los Cabos vacations, tips on villas and residences at Punta Ballena or Esperanza, or surfing in Baja, please contact me, I’d be happy to help create your most memorable Los Cabos Vacations.
